These Terms of Service (the "Terms") set out the conditions for using Nulvo (the "App"). By using the App, you are deemed to have agreed to these Terms.
The Version 3.1 revision (the addition of "Featuring posts to introduce the App" in Section 5) takes effect on August 18, 2026. Until then, the previous version of these Terms applies.
1. Overview of the Service
The App is a social network for sharing feelings such as sadness, emptiness, and loneliness. Users can connect through posts and empathy reactions to others.
2. Conditions of Use
The App is not primarily intended for people under the age rating shown on the App Store. If you are a minor, please use the App in accordance with applicable laws and these Terms, and obtain the consent of a parent or guardian where required. Paid transactions such as purchasing Nulvo Plus require the consent of a parent or guardian. For cancellations or refunds of purchases made by a minor, please use Apple's refund process.
An account is created automatically. By linking your account with your Apple ID, you can carry your data over across devices.
Posting limits are as follows:
Free plan: up to 1 post per day
Nulvo Plus: up to 3 posts per day
The posting count resets once a day at 20:00 UTC (5:00 AM the following day, Japan Standard Time). This reset time is fixed year-round.
Posts may be written in Japanese or English.
Post length is 5 to 50 characters for Japanese posts, and 5 to 120 characters for English posts.
3. Prohibited Conduct
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive users. The following conduct is prohibited on the App. If a violation is confirmed, we may take measures, including removing or hiding posts and suspending accounts, without prior notice. Posts may also be blocked automatically by AI review.
Posting content that encourages or promotes self-harm or suicide
Attacks, defamation, or harassment directed at others
Posting personal information (such as names, addresses, or phone numbers)
Content that departs significantly from the App's themes (sadness, emptiness, loneliness)
Spam, advertising, or promotional activity
Obscene content, posts whose main purpose is the explicit depiction of sexual acts, and any content involving the sexual exploitation of minors
Discriminatory expression or hate speech based on attributes such as race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or religion
Content that violates applicable laws, or that facilitates illegal acts or trade in illegal goods or services
Content that infringes the copyright, trademark, or other rights of third parties
Impersonating another person or entity
Technical attacks such as unauthorized access or reverse engineering
Posting techniques intended to circumvent AI review or filters (such as repeating the same character, inserting meaningless symbols, or evading review by using a language other than the supported languages (Japanese and English))
In addition, the following are not violations of these Terms, but are outside the scope of what can be posted and are blocked automatically by AI review. They are not grounds for account suspension or similar measures.
Posts containing URLs or links
Posts about the App or its operator itself (including feedback or criticism regarding features, billing, or specifications — please send these via Contact in Settings)
4. Content Safety Measures
To maintain a safe community, the App applies the following measures.
AI review — Every post undergoes an AI safety check, and posts that fall under Prohibited Conduct are blocked automatically.
Sensitive-content masking — When another user's post contains wording our AI judges to be explicit — sexual descriptions, depictions of violence or bodily injury, references to self-harm scars, terms relating to the sex industry, and the like — that wording is concealed when the post is shown to you. Tap a concealed portion to reveal it for that viewing only. If the flagged wording cannot be located in the post text, the entire body is concealed as a safety measure. Turning on "Show sensitive content" in Settings displays such posts without masking from the start. Your own posts are never concealed from you.
Reporting — If you find an inappropriate post, you can report it from the post menu. We review reported posts within 24 hours, and where we determine that a post violates these Terms, we remove or hide the post and may suspend the account of the user who posted it.
Blocking — You can use the block feature to hide the posts of specific users.
Administrator moderation — Reported posts are reviewed by us, and where necessary we remove or hide the post and suspend the account that posted it.
AI review is not a perfect system, and in rare cases an inappropriate post may be displayed temporarily. We remove such posts after the fact; our liability for any damages arising from their display is governed by Section 12 (Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability).
5. Handling of Content
Copyright in post content belongs to the user. However, by posting, the user grants us a free, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, and store the post, to adapt it through automatic translation, and to assess its safety automatically (AI review), to the extent necessary to operate the App and to maintain a safe community. This license includes our transmission of post content to external service providers we engage to carry out that processing. Those providers and further details of how the data is handled are set out in our Privacy Policy.
We may remove or hide a post that violates Section 3 (Prohibited Conduct) of these Terms, or where we reasonably determine that doing so is necessary for the safe operation of the App.
Posts are distributed to other users without displaying the user's name.
Posts may be displayed in a form automatically translated by AI for users of other languages. We do not guarantee the accuracy of translations.
The timing, order, and extent to which a post appears in other users' timelines are determined by us and by the design of the App. You are not guaranteed that a post will be shown to any particular number of users or to any particular user, or that it will receive empathy reactions or any other response. A post may not be shown to some users as a result of blocking, account suspension, or a user's display settings. The display order and presentation of the timeline may be changed at our discretion.
Posts may be displayed not only in the in-app timeline but also in push notification previews and in home screen widgets.
You may delete your own posts at any time from the archive or your post history within the App. A deleted post cannot be restored, and the empathy reactions, bookmarks, and related notifications it received are deleted along with it.
Posts that we have removed or hidden in response to a report or other enforcement action are retained on our servers, without being displayed in the App, in order to preserve a record of that action, and are not subject to deletion by the user. Such posts are also erased if you delete your account.
When you delete a post, it is removed from our servers immediately and is no longer distributed. However, content already saved on another user's device before the deletion (home screen widgets, in-app caches, and the like) and push notifications that have already been delivered may remain on that device until that user next opens the App and the displayed content is refreshed. We are unable to erase these remotely.
We are under no obligation to provide a built-in feature for exporting post content or otherwise porting your data. This does not limit any rights you may have under applicable law, such as a right to request access to, or a copy of, your personal data. To exercise such rights, please use the contact details in our Privacy Policy. You can also delete your account, and the data associated with it, at any time from the settings screen within the App.
Featuring posts to introduce the App — Solely for the purpose of introducing and promoting the App, we may display post content (the body of a post together with its ending word) on our official website, in App Store and other store listings, in posts from our official social media accounts, and in advertisements for the App. When we do so, we do not display the user's name, account, or any other information identifying the author. Such display may involve adaptation through automatic translation. This applies only to posts that meet all of the following conditions:
the author has agreed to version 3.1 or later of these Terms (this includes posts made before that agreement);
not flagged as containing sensitive expressions;
not subject to removal or hiding; and
posted by a user who has not asked us to stop featuring their posts.
If you do not want your posts featured, you can tell us at any time through in-app contact or any other method we designate. After you do, we will not make any new use of your posts. We will remove material already published from media under our control; however, we cannot guarantee the removal of copies made by third parties, such as reposts or archives, which are outside our control.
6. Subscription (Nulvo Plus)
The App offers a free plan and a paid plan (Nulvo Plus).
Nulvo Plus is an auto-renewing subscription. The following plans are available:
Monthly plan: ¥480/month
Annual plan: ¥3,200/year
Prices are set in Japanese yen and are those of the Japanese App Store. If your App Store account is registered to another country or region, the price set for your App Store storefront applies, and it may differ from a direct currency conversion of the prices above. The amount actually charged in your local currency is determined and displayed by the App Store; the price shown in the App Store and in the App at the time of purchase, including any applicable taxes, is the price that governs.
Both the monthly plan and the annual plan include a 7-day free trial for first-time subscribers. A free trial is applied only once within the same subscription group, so it is not available if you have previously used a free trial or an introductory offer for Nulvo Plus.
If you do not cancel during the free trial period, your subscription automatically converts to a paid period at the end of the trial and you will be charged for the plan you selected. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a paid subscription. The availability and duration of any free trial, and the price, are as shown on the purchase screen before you confirm the purchase, which takes precedence.
The main benefits of Nulvo Plus are as follows:
Up to 3 posts per day (the free plan allows 1 post per day)
A choice of all four feeling openers — "I'm sad" / "It hurts" / "I'm lonely" / "I feel empty" (the free plan offers only "I'm sad"; Nulvo Plus adds the other three). In Japanese posts these appear as the corresponding sentence endings.
No advertisements
We may change, add to, or discontinue the benefits, price, or delivery of Nulvo Plus. If we discontinue a benefit or make any other material change during a period you have already paid for, we will give advance notice through in-app announcements or similar means, except where urgent security measures, legal requirements, or other unavoidable circumstances apply. Price changes apply from the next renewal and are notified in advance in accordance with Apple's rules.
Upon confirmation of purchase, the charge is applied to the iTunes account linked to your Apple ID.
Unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, the subscription renews automatically.
The renewal charge is applied to your account within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal after purchase from "Settings" > "Apple ID" > "Subscriptions" on your device.
Refunds are handled in accordance with Apple's refund policy. We do not process refunds directly.
On the App's free plan, advertisements served by a third-party provider (Google AdMob) are displayed. No advertisements are displayed while you are subscribed to Nulvo Plus. For how information related to advertising is handled, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
8. Account Deletion
You can delete your account at any time from the settings screen within the App. Deletion removes the data associated with your account on our servers — posts, empathy reactions, bookmarks, notifications, push notification tokens, inquiry history, and reporting and blocking records — and it cannot be restored.
However, for AI review logs (records of the safety assessment performed when you post, which include the text of the post), the user ID is detached from the log (anonymized) at the time of account deletion, and the recorded text and assessment result are retained for up to 60 days from the assessment, for the purpose of preventing misuse, before being deleted automatically. Crash reports are likewise retained for a limited period and then deleted automatically. For retention periods and details of what is stored, please see our Privacy Policy.
In addition, as set out in Section 5, content already saved on other users' devices before the deletion and push notifications that have already been delivered may remain on those devices.
9. Changes to and Termination of the Service
We may change the content of the Service or discontinue its provision. Except where urgent security measures, legal requirements, or other unavoidable circumstances apply, we will give advance notice of material changes or of termination of the Service through in-app announcements or similar means. Upon termination of the Service, data is deleted and no migration to another service is provided. If we terminate the Service during a paid subscription period, we will announce the termination date in advance. You will need to turn off auto-renewal yourself from "Settings" > "Apple ID" > "Subscriptions" on your device. Any refund for the unused portion of a period is handled in accordance with Apple's subscription and refund procedures; we do not process refunds directly. Except in cases of our willful misconduct or gross negligence, we accept no liability for damages arising from changes to or termination of the Service; where we are liable, the scope and cap set out in Section 12 apply.
10. Obligation to Update the App
We may require users to update the App to the latest version in connection with critical bug fixes, security measures, or specification changes.
When an update is required, we may display a message prompting an update within the App, or a screen that requires an update in order to continue using the App.
If you do not update, some or all of the App may become unavailable.
Except in cases of our willful misconduct or gross negligence, we accept no liability for any damages (such as data inconsistencies, malfunctions, or communication errors) arising from continued use of an older version; where we are liable, the scope and cap set out in Section 12 apply.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may change these Terms. We may make such a change without separately obtaining your individual agreement where either of the following applies:
the change is in the general interest of users; or
the change is not contrary to the purpose of these Terms and is reasonable in light of the need for the change, the appropriateness of the amended content, the existence of this section providing that changes may be made, and the other circumstances relating to the change.
In the latter case, before the change takes effect we will give notice of the fact that these Terms will be changed, of the content of the amended Terms, and of the effective date, by publishing it on this page or otherwise via the internet, or through an in-app announcement.
When there is a material change, we may display a re-consent dialog when the App launches, and users will be asked to agree to the new Terms in order to continue using the App. If you do not agree, you must stop using the App. If you continue to use the App after a change, you are deemed to have agreed to the changed Terms.
12. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the App makes no warranty as to the completeness, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose of its operation.
Except in cases of our willful misconduct or gross negligence, our liability for damages arising from interruption, delay, data loss, or malfunction of the Service does not exceed the scope and cap set out in "Cap on damages" in this Section.
We are under no obligation to mediate disputes between users.
We do not warrant the accuracy or appropriateness of content generated or determined by AI (such as post review and automatic translation), and, except in cases of our willful misconduct or gross negligence, our liability for any damages arising from it does not exceed the scope and cap set out in "Cap on damages" in this Section.
Willful misconduct and gross negligence excluded — No exclusion or limitation of liability in these Terms applies where we have acted with willful misconduct or gross negligence.
Cap on damages — Where we are liable solely as a result of our ordinary negligence (meaning negligence other than gross negligence), our liability is limited to damages that would ordinarily arise, and our total liability shall not exceed the greater of JPY 10,000 or the total amount you paid us for the App during the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the damage.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including under the mandatory consumer protection law of your country of residence.
The App is not a substitute for medical care or counseling. If you are struggling with self-harm or thoughts of suicide, please reach out to a crisis helpline — you can find one for your country at findahelpline.com. In Japan, the Yorisoi Hotline (0120-279-338) is available 24 hours a day. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services (119 in Japan).
13. Suspension of Use
If a user violates these Terms, or where we reasonably determine, in light of these Terms or applicable law, that it is necessary for the safe operation of the App, we may suspend or delete the account. Except in urgent cases or where circumstances otherwise make it impracticable, we will endeavor to notify the user in advance, or promptly after taking the measure.
Where such a measure is taken during a paid Nulvo Plus period, the following applies:
If you have violated these Terms, we do not refund the subscription fee for that period.
If we take the measure at our own discretion in the absence of any violation by you, we will either lift the measure or direct you to Apple's refund process for the unused portion of the period. We do not process refunds directly.
In either case, a measure under this section does not itself stop the subscription from renewing. You need to turn off auto-renewal yourself from "Settings" > "Apple ID" > "Subscriptions" on your device.
14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the district court having jurisdiction over the location of the operator, as the court of first instance.
However, if you use the App as a consumer, this section does not exclude your right to bring proceedings before any court having jurisdiction under applicable law, nor does it deprive you of the protection afforded to you by the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of habitual residence, or of any right you may have to bring proceedings before the courts of that country.
15. Contact
For questions about these Terms, and for any other inquiry or complaint concerning the App, you can reach us through either of the following two channels.
The following conditions apply to the in-app inquiry feature:
You may send up to 3 inquiries per day (counted by calendar day in Japan time). The message body must be between 1 and 1,000 characters.
In addition to the category you select and the text you write, your app version, OS type and version, and plan type are automatically attached for troubleshooting purposes. Please see our Privacy Policy for how this information is handled.
Please do not include personal information about third parties, attacks, defamation, or threats directed at others, or any other content falling under Section 3 (Prohibited Conduct). Section 3 applies to inquiry text as well as to posts.
We are under no obligation to respond to every inquiry, and we do not guarantee when or how we will respond. Where we do reply, we will notify you through your inquiry history in the App and by notification.
This feature is not an emergency contact channel. In an emergency involving life or physical safety, please contact your local emergency services or a professional organization.
The operator's name and address are not published on this page, but we will provide them without undue delay upon request through the contact channels above, notwithstanding the provision above regarding our general obligation to respond.
16. Revision History
These Terms and the Privacy Policy share a single version number. When we make a material change, we ask you to agree again inside the App, and the version you agreed to is recorded on your device. We began publishing this revision history with the version below.
Version 3.1 (August 18, 2026) — Added "Featuring posts to introduce the App" to Section 5, allowing us to display post content on external media to introduce and promote the App, without any information identifying the author, covering posts by users who have agreed to version 3.1 or later of these Terms (including posts made before that agreement), and with the ability to opt out by contacting us. Added a corresponding purpose of use to the Privacy Policy.
Version 3.0 (July 25, 2026) — Introduced advertising on the free plan (Google AdMob); added automatic translation of posts (Japanese ↔ English) and support for posting in English (5 to 120 characters); added masked display of sensitive expressions, in-app contact, and deletion of your own posts; changed the daily posting reset time (from 21:00 Japan time daily to 20:00 UTC); reorganized the description of the Nulvo Plus benefits and the free trial; revised the prohibited conduct provisions and the disclaimer and limitation of liability; clarified the provisions on changes to these Terms, on removal of posts and suspension of use, and on governing law and jurisdiction; added a statement that the operator's name and address are provided on request; removed references to discontinued features (AI-generated reply messages, custom backgrounds, and limited themes).
Version 1.3 and earlier — The contents of those versions are not published on this page. Please contact us at the addresses above with any questions.
